Not every child needs tutoring.
Here’s an honest checklist to help you decide.
1. They’re Scoring Below Their Target Grade
If your child is consistently underperforming, tutoring may help.
Look for:
Repeated Grade 3/4 scores
Unpredictable results
Weak exam technique
2. They Lack Confidence in Maths
Confidence impacts performance more than ability. A tutor can rebuild confidence through structured wins.
3. You’re Experiencing Frequent Stress or Arguments
This usually means your child needs an external guide — someone they can learn from without the emotional pressure.
4. They Don’t Know How to Revise
A tutor can build routines, habits, and strategies that students keep for years.
5. They’re in Year 10 or Early Year 11
This is the best time to start tutoring. It prevents panic later and leads to smoother revision.
